How Credits Work

One currency for every outbound lookup the platform makes on your behalf — published, predictable and itemised in a ledger you can read line by line.

A credit is one unit of outbound work. Checking a keyword on Google — the whole top 100, in one call — costs 2 credits. Fetching a URL to analyse it costs 1. A keyword research lookup costs 3–18. That is the whole model.

We use credits instead of arbitrary feature gates because the cost of running this platform is genuinely per-request — every rank check, every research lookup and every audit step is a real call to a real data provider. Pricing that honestly means you are never paying for capacity you do not use, and never blocked from a tool just because it sits on a higher tier.

Nothing is hidden

Every charge writes a ledger row with the action, the amount and your balance afterwards. You can always answer "what did that cost, and why?"

You cannot overspend

A charge is checked and deducted atomically. If the balance is short the action stops before it starts — you are never left holding a half-finished batch you already paid for.

Reading is always free

Dashboards, charts, ranking history, saved audit reports, alerts and scheduled reports cost nothing. You pay to collect data once, then use it forever.

The one number worth understanding

Rank tracking is where most of a plan's credits go, and its cost depends on something slightly counter-intuitive: keywords you already rank well for are cheap, and keywords you do not rank for are expensive.

To find your position we read the actual results pages until we find your URL. If you are number four, we read one page — 1 credit. If you are number 67, we read seven pages — 7 credits. If you are not in the top 100 at all, we read all ten before concluding that, which costs 10.

Rule of thumb: budget about 3 credits per keyword per day. A portfolio that is already ranking well runs cheaper; a brand-new site chasing competitive terms runs closer to the top of the range until it starts ranking. Every plan on this site is sized against that 3-credit average.

Two consequences worth knowing. First, your tracking bill falls as your rankings improve, which is the right direction for an incentive to point. Second, if you are tracking terms you have no realistic chance at, you will see it in the ledger before you see it anywhere else.

About the Full Site Audit price. It is billed as one product, not per call. The audit measures your site's organic traffic partway through the run and settles on a single tier price — you are charged that price and nothing else, never the tier price plus the individual lookups it made along the way. Because the price is not knowable until the site has been measured, the launch screen reserves the ceiling of 500 credits and releases whatever is not used.

If you run low

  • You get told first. A built-in alert rule watches your balance and warns you before it becomes a problem.
  • Nothing silently fails. An action that cannot afford itself stops and says so, rather than returning half a result.
  • Nothing is lost. Tracking resumes exactly where it left off once the balance is topped up — history is not broken by a gap.
  • Top up in minutes. Packs start at $499 for 25,000 credits and never expire.

Questions about credits and cost

How SEO tools meter usage, what tracking really costs, and what happens when you run out.

How much does keyword rank tracking cost?

At Newinterval, tracking costs 1 credit per Google results page read, which works out to roughly 3 credits per keyword per day across a typical portfolio. Plans start at $399 a month for 250 tracked keywords and 22,000 credits. Keywords you already rank well for cost less, because we find them on the first page.

Why do SEO tools charge in credits instead of a flat fee?

Because their underlying costs are genuinely per-request — every rank check and research lookup is a real call to a real data source. Credits let a tool open every feature on every plan instead of gating features to justify tiers. The problem with most credit systems is that the per-action price is never published; ours is.

What happens when you run out of SEO credits?

Nothing breaks and nothing is billed by surprise. Actions that need credits stop and tell you the balance is short, and because each charge is atomic you are never left with a half-finished batch you already paid for. An alert warns you before you get there, and top-up packs never expire.

Do unused SEO credits roll over?

Monthly plan credits are topped back up to the plan allowance each cycle rather than accumulating. Credits bought separately as top-up packs sit on top of that balance and never expire, so a heavy research month does not force you onto a larger plan for the rest of the year.
